Session Proposal Deadline Fast Approaches

January 15th is almost upon us and that means you only have a few more days to submit session proposal for our 2016 Conference, which will be held in Ogden on Oct 12-14.  This is your opportunity to make your mark at UMA and share your thoughts, observations and hard won lessons with your colleagues.

UMA wants to use your experiences as museum staff, volunteers, and administrators in all kinds of museums to put together a program that will engage, inform and delight attendees.   Our goal is to send conference attendees back to their museums on fire with our 2016 theme “Making Connections by Thinking Local.”

You could be part of this conference by submitting your proposal to amaze and inspire your fellow colleagues. Please visit the UMA website to submit your ideas.

A few keys to submitting a winning session proposal:

Be sure the idea relates to the theme of the conference and works within the parameters offered.

Consider finding a colleague from another museum to present with you to help broaden your presentation.  It’s a great way to get to network.

Sound like a seasoned veteran in your proposal.  Familiarize yourself with the “Session Guidelines” to be sure you understand all of the logistics of presenting.

Sessions based on practical “in the trenches” experiences rather than theory are more meaningful to attendees.  When drafting and manning your session ask yourself two questions:

·         How will this session help other museums across the state?

·         Will this session open opportunities for ongoing learning and discussion?

We look forward to receiving your session proposals for the submissions for the 2016 UMA Annual Conference! Proposals are due Friday, January 15. For a detailed description of guidelines and to access the submission form, visit the UMA Website or click here
