Session Proposal Deadline Extended to Jan 15

Every year our annual conference is full of thoughtful presentations, engaging discussions, and inspiring panels presented by museum professionals just like you!  As we gear up for our upcoming UMA Annual October Conference in Ogden, consider the following:

Have you

·         found innovative ways to harness local resources?

·         connected with unexpected or hard-to-reach pockets of your local community?

·         created a new model of local collaboration?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, you should consider putting together a session proposal by January 15!

This year we are looking for museum staff, volunteers, and administrators in all kinds of museums throughout the state to help us put together a program that will truly connect attendees with our theme of “Making Connections by Thinking Local.”

A few tips for submitting a session proposals:

Be sure the idea relates to the theme of the conference and works within the parameters offered.

We want to be sure that sessions will appeal to a wide spectrum of museum professionals. Consider finding a colleague from another museum to present with you to help broaden your presentation.

Read and familiarize yourself with the “Session Guidelines” to be sure you understand all of the logistics of presenting.

Sessions are stronger when they are based on museum theory and go beyond a simple show-and-tell. Ask yourself two questions:

·         How will this session help other museums across the state?

·         Will this session open opportunities for ongoing learning and discussion?

We look forward to receiving your session proposals for the submissions for the 2016 UMA Annual Conference! Proposals are due Friday, January 15. For a detailed description of guidelines and to access the submission form, visit the UMA Website or click here.
