Join our staff for a behind-the-scenes tour of their paleontology and archaeology collections and fossil preparation lab. Though the museum has many important specimens on display, our real strength is in our collections, which we hold in perpetuity for the people of Utah and the United States.

Join our staff for a behind-the-scenes tour of their paleontology and archaeology collections and fossil preparation lab. Though the museum has many important specimens on display, our real strength is in our collections, which we hold in perpetuity for the people of Utah and the United States. See the actual bones of the world-famous Huntington Mammoth and the fossils of a brand new, unnamed sauropod dinosaur! Come see some of the amazing perishable objects associated with the Fremont culture, collected by Ephraim Pectol in the early 20th century. The museum is in the process of re-housing much of its collection, and proper storage and handling of diverse specimens will be a focal point of the tour. This tour will be followed by a hands-on activity recovering and identifying fossil shark teeth under the microscope. Please stay to explore the museum exhibit halls at your own pace, including a celebration of the museum’s 60th anniversary in its temporary gallery.
To ensure the safety of staff and attendees this event will be limited to 20 in-person attendees and will follow current CDC guidelines. Directions and parking information can be found here. Participants may also choose to participate in the museum portion virtually.
Registration required. UMA Members: Free | General Public: $15
