Utah Division of Arts & Museums

The Utah Division of Arts and Museums is an agency of the state government of Utah, responsible for the promotion of the arts and Utah museums. It is a division of the Utah Department of Community and Culture. The Division includes the Utah Office of Museum Services and the Utah Arts Council.

Mission: to provide professional development and networking opportunities to build the capacity of Utah's museums; connect museums to professional resources and best practice; and serve as an advocate for Utah museums.

Mission: to advance the value of museums within Utah and to enable the broadest physical, intellectual, and emotional access to collections and programs.

Sponsors an annual conference which provides networking opportunities ad hands on training.

Administers Federal and State grants to museums to preserve collections, develop educational resources, and provide access for research purposes.

Connects members to the resources they need by providing access to mentors and specialists.

In the past has provided technical support by means of workshops and trainings provided by staff experts.   In the future plans to provide technical support and training via a partnership with Utah State University Extension Services.

Provides local and regional advocacy training.

Gathers and provides museum data to the Legislature and advocates on behalf of museum consumers.
