Poster Proposal Deadline: September 4, 2020
Presenters were notified of proposal status by September 10, 2020

UMA is seeking people interested in sharing their stories, successes, and challenges with the Utah museum community in posters that present strategies and ideas for strengthening the future of Utah museums, their programs, collections, and communities.

UMA is excited for this unique opportunity to share your time research and/or projects with your museum colleagues and engage in meaningful conversations. We encourage and welcome submissions from seasoned professionals, emerging professionals, students, and museum volunteers.

This year’s session will be unique in that presenters will have 3 minutes to present their poster to a Zoom meeting of participants. After all presenters in a group have spoken, the session will be opened for discussion between presenters and participants. Posters will be grouped by similar themes and placed into separate Zoom meetings to facilitate more meaningful discussion.

The Session will be held virtually and because of its informal nature, it will not be recorded for later viewing.

How to submit

In order for your proposal to be considered, you must submit by the deadline using the Poster Proposal form below.

Poster Session Guidelines

  1. Poster should be 1-3 presentation slides in length.
  2. To coordinate this virtual session, your poster must be submitted as a PDF file to info@utahmuseums.org by Friday, September 25 at 5:00 pm. Please note that these posters will be viewed on computer screens or small devices. Slides should not contain small-sized fonts.
  3. Poster descriptions should be accurate. Do not twist titles/descriptions to fit the theme.
  4. The Poster Session date and time will be included in the program book. All Poster Session presenters are required to attend and remain on the Zoom meeting for the duration of the session.
  5. All poster session participation is voluntary; we are unable to offer honoraria.
  6. Poster Session presenters are expected to register for the conference, and will be responsible for their own conference registration.
  7. Vendors are allowed to present a poster, however the poster is to remain neutral and in no way is your session to be an advertisement for your business.
  8. Due to limits in space and time, the submittal of a proposal does not guarantee that your poster will be chosen for the conference. UMA reserves the right to decline or recommend modifications to proposals in the interest of the conference and attendees.
