First, remember Museum Advocacy Day is Tuesday, March 3rd. (Hopefully you have registered!) Second, you will have half a table in the Rotunda for display. Third, this is the day for you to talk to your legislators and connect with other members in the Museum field.

I encourage you to send your legislator(s)—both personal and organizational—an email to let them know that you will be attending Museum Advocacy Day and would like to visit with them either during floor time or in the Rotunda.
Not sure who your legislators are? Go to www.le.utah.gov enter your address in the lower left hand corner. This will give you their contact information and you will be able to send them an email.

*We have 14 new Representatives and 3 new Senators so you may not have the ones you think you have!*

Practice your 90 second elevator speech that you will say when you meet with them. Keep in mind that some of you may be meeting with more than one organization, so it is imperative that you are brief and succinct. Also, if you have a handout, do NOT give it to the legislator until you, as a group, are done talking. Make sure any handouts are three hole punched, bigger text, lots of white space and either colors or photos.

Have fun talking with your legislators and connecting with other passionate museum folks!

As a follow up make sure to send them a thank you note when you are back home and invite them to come to your facility. Keep in touch with them throughout the year instead of once a year.

See you on March 3rd!!!
