• Do you know your personal legislators?
• Do you know your organizational legislators?
• Do you know how to find out who they are and just what you and your non-profit can and can't do related to advocacy?

If you’d like to learn the basics of advocacy and public policy, and feel more at ease on Museum Day, join me, Jayceen Craven Walker, Government Relations Associate from Pathway Associates and Utah Museum Association (UMA) Vice-President on Monday, February 27 at Fort Douglas from 2-4. This class is an excellent way to prepare you and your organization for the 2012 UMA Day on the Hill, February 28. Learn how to speak with your legislators and make them as passionate about what you do as you are!
Why is civic engagement important to you? Because: museums are affected by governmental action and the people served by nonprofits are often the most vulnerable to changes in policy. Museums are also in a unique position to empower their constituents, not only as individual citizens, but also as advocates for the organization.
*Note: Museum Day on the Hill will be Tuesday, February 28 from 8-3 in the Capitol Rotunda.
